The Exorcist

“I’m telling you that ‘thing’ upstairs isn’t my daughter…”

Winner of two Academy Awards, and widely considered the scariest movie of all time, the film adaptation of The Exorcist sparked unprecedented worldwide controversy when it was released in cinemas in 1973. Forty-five years after William Peter Blatty’s best-selling novel terrified an entire generation, The Exorcist is unleashed onto the West End stage for the very first time in a uniquely theatrical experience directed by award-winning film and theatre Director Sean Mathias (Bent, No Man’s Land).

“Oh please, Mother, make it stop! It's hurting.”

When the medical profession fails to provide answers to young Regan's strange symptoms her desperate mother Chris turns to a local priest for help. But before Father Damien can tackle what's before him, he must overcome his own shaken beliefs, as this fight is for more than just one girl's soul…

Inspired by true events.

  • Exciting show

    21 January 2018

A very well performed edge of seat show with flashing lights, big bangs and loud screaming to unsettle your nerves and make you jump but at the same time make you laugh aloud. Loved it the whole way through and the theatre was nice size and cosy atmosphere.

I found the play very professionally done, although the theme very disturbing! Ok, I know it’s supposed to be, but I did feel uncomfortable watching a ‘12 year old girl self harming’ in more ways than one!

  • Excellent interpretation of a classic work

    21 January 2018

Technically wonderful, this is such a brave work to bring to the stage. It needs an imaginative setting in 3 (or even 4) dimensions. As a new interpretation of a film better known than the original book it works very well. The actors do a great job of breathing new life into the characters and who could resist making special mention of an exceptional portrayal of the possessed Regan. It will make you jump; it will make you squirm, it will make you think.

  • poor to say the least

    21 January 2018

unfortunately we found this play to be awful. whilst the sets were clever ,and some of the effects quite good, in general the play was poor, some of the acting awful its as if some of the cast didn't want to be there and were only going through the motions. we didn't find it scary at all , in fact people behind were laughing at a lot of the parts of the show that were supposed to be frightening. it wasn't for us, we thought a total waste of time and money.
