Royal Shakespeare Company: Antony and Cleopatra - William Shakespeare

Following Caesar’s assassination, Mark Antony has reached the heights of power. Now he has neglected his empire for a life of decadent seduction with his mistress, Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt.
Torn between love and duty, Antony’s military brilliance deserts him, and his passion leads the lovers to their tragic end.

Iqbal Khan returns to the RSC to direct, following his critically acclaimed productions of Othello (2015) and Much Ado About Nothing (2012).

I did enjoy the production however I would say being true to Shakespeare, it's too long. It felt that some of the scenes could have benefitted from being shorter. The 7.15 showing finishes pretty late which makes it a rush to catch an evening train home.

It's one or the greatestlove stories but lacked chemistry and was pretty passionless. Bland

We were 3 generations watching this. We all loved it; the acting, sets, costumes were very impressive. I have found myself thinking about the play, and especially the portrayal of Cleopatra by Josette Simon, in the week following. Strongly recommend this production..
