The King and I

The multi-award winning and critically acclaimed Lincoln Center Theater’s production of The King and I is tipped to be London’s theatrical event of 2018. This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, starring the original Broadway stars, comes to London’s iconic Palladium in Spring 2018.

Kelli O’Hara reprises her Tony Award-winning role opposite Tony and Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe.
Director Bartlett Sher, fresh from London’s critical smash hit production of Oslo, reunites the original creative team comprised of Tony Award-winning costume designer Catherine Zuber, set designer Michael Yeargan, lighting designer Donald Holder, sound designer Scott Lehrer, and choreography by Christopher Gattelli based on the original choreography by Jerome Robbins.

What is The King and I about?

Set in Bangkok in the 1860’s, The King and I tells the story of the tempestuous and unconventional relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna: a British schoolteacher brought to Siam by the modernist King to teach his many wives and children.

A superior score includes such treasured songs as “Whistle a Happy Tune,” “Getting to Know You,” and “Shall We Dance.
With a company of over 50 world-class performers, The King and I testifies to the lavish heritage of gloriously romantic musical theatre. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the greatest musical from the golden age of theatre, playing a limited engagement booking until 4 August 2018.

“I doubt I’ll ever see a better production in my lifetime.”The Wall Street Journal
