Big Fish The Musical

Big Fish, a brand-new musical based on the beloved book and Tim Burton movie, comes to The Other Palace for a strictly limited Christmas season.
Starring Emmy, Tony, and Golden Globe award-winner Kelsey Grammer.

Edward Bloom (Grammer) is an ordinary man but extraordinary father. His tall tales, filled with beauty, love, and imagination, have always captivated his son. But when Edward’s son confronts his father about how much of the tales are truth and how much are fiction, father and son embark on a life-affirming journey that will change them both forever.

With a beautiful score by Tony nominee Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family, The Wild Party), and a book by John August (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Big Fish The Musical, directed by Nigel Harman, asks the question: what does it mean to really know your own father?

One of my favourite films expertly converted to a fantastic theatre show. The casting couldn’t have been better. Kelsey’s accent in the show was almost identical to Albert Finney’s from the movie. Happiness & heartbreak throughout. Would love to see it again.

I thought the theatre was amazing, no matter where sat you felt like you were close to stage. The actors were professional and made a small stage seem large. The story was really well told and I don't think it could have been done better. I was initially attracted to the lead star but was pleasantly surprised that the show was not a one man band. Overall it's such a shame it's only on for a short time as I'd have liked to enjoy it again. Please get it back!!

  • Grab this while you can.

This is a real gem of a show. Funny, moving and so slick in every way. Every performance is quite outstanding. We were all so emotional at the end - as were the cast. The small intimate theatre makes you feel such a part of it. We were in the front row and felt so involved. It’s not on for much longer so just do it!!

  • Superb performance by Kelsey

    22 December 2017

This is a quirky re-write of a quirky book and film. The music helped and the ensemble cast were excellent and the staging impressive and full go ingenuity. The second half was superb though and Kelsey Grammer's performance was superlative. In the end very much enjoyed it and would recommend to others.
