Legends of Pop, Scarborough

Spandau Ballet frontman Tony will join Aussie heart-throb Jason and popstar Rick topping the bill for what promises to be a hit-packed party night at Europe’s largest open air theatre on Saturday 6 August.

The chart-topping trio are the first acts to be confirmed for the ‘Legends of Pop’ event which will be hosted by DJ and popstar Pat Sharp and is part of a wonderful summer of live music at Scarborough OAT.

Main headliner Tony Hadley is rightly regarded as one of pop music’s greatest vocalists. As part of pioneering New Romantic flag bearers Spandau Ballet, he has had numerous hits around the world such as Gold, Lifeline, Through the Barricades and the international number one True. He has now toured the world as a solo star for more than 20 years. Pop icon Rick Astley has sold more than 19 million records in a near-30-year career. His 1987 debut single Never Gonna Give You Up reached Number 1 in 17 countries followed by eight consecutive Top 10 UK hits. Rick has just announced a full UK Tour for March and April 2016 to coincide with the release of his new album due for release later in 2016.

Jason Donovan shot to fame in the late 1980s when he was cast as Scott Robinson in Neighbours. He gained four UK number 1 singles – Especially for You (with Kylie Minogue), Too Many Broken Hearts, Sealed with a Kiss and Any Dream Will Do from his critically-acclaimed performance in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Jason has appeared in a number of top stage productions including The Rocky Horror Show and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and came runner-up in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2011.
